The Opportunity
As the demand for sustainable and efficient building solutions grows, the need for effective data analytics in this space becomes increasingly important. Collection and analysis of building electrical data is in its infancy. Our challenge is that we are learning to do things that have not been done yet. This includes but is not limited to being able to observe at a very granular level:
- Specific identification of building energy waste.
- Granular reporting on success of sustainability initiatives.
- Provide warning on out of commission or end of life equipment.
- Workspace utilization shifts to optimize real estate decisions.
The Platform
Our IoT platform consists of 5 layers which comprise an enterprise class, full building, data analytics platform.
- Hardware devices to collect data from the buildings

- Enterprise data storage, optimized for fast query times

My Role
My role is to take information from a number of sources and synthesize it into actionable software development plans and guidance.
- Identify what information will provide value to our stakeholders.
- Understand how to leverage data sets we have collected and optimized.
- Awareness of data sets are available via external APIs and how we consume.
- Align the disparate data sets so they answer the questions that our users have.
- Generate crisp, use-case centered ways to display data for the user to consume.
- Design and guide designers in creating intuitive user interfaces that solve business problems.
- Create development specifications, provide direction, and write Jira stories and epics for developers.
